[Breakout v1.01]

pretty good for a start

I also made a game like this using completely Java as afinal project for my AP Comp Sci class.
One HUGE thing you need to do is to seperate the block into at least 5 or 6 sections.

If you notice when u hit the right side of the paddle when playing a "professional" version of Breakout, it moves a lot to the right, no matter which way the ball is going to begin with.
As you get closer to each side, make the ball's velocity move faster left or right.
heres part of my Java code:
if (rebound == true)
{
....if (xBall >=paddleLeft && xBall < paddleLeft + paddleLength/5
....xVelocity = -3
....else if (xBall >= paddleLeft + paddleLength/5 && xBall < paddleLeft*2/5
....xVelocity = -2

etc. etc. etc.

that way the ball is not bouncing in a predictable way and it is easier to control where the ball goes.
Im not sure how to convert it to AS or if it will work like that in AS but that should give u a general idea. If i find my Java version, would you like to have it? Spin me an email if u do.

WARNING: WHEN MOVING YOUR CURSOR AROUND VERY FAST, EXPECT YOUR COMPUTER TO SLOW DOWN GREATLY. (I have a 2.13GHz AMD Athalon with 512 MB of ram and the CPU resource meter was at around 95-100% when doing these. (but i also had it on high quality)) I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU PUT YOUR QUALITY TO MEDIUM OR LOW.
some of them were repetitive but some of them were completely original. the music got old after a while.... tho what do u expect?

wow, i order a pizza and as soon as i load my browser up what do i find? a game about PIZZA!
great game because it takes a lot to make the "perfect pizza"
also, the game is sorta based on a grid tho its getting the food inside the grid that's the hard part.

Its almost like the "Wanted" mini-game in Super Mario 64 DS.
Except that you had a certain time limit per round and not just one set time limit that went down every round and carried over.

it doesnt work

I would have given a fair score EXCEPt for the fact that all i see is a line go diagonally up to the top left, then a little action thingy with 2 characters (i suppose thats your logo animation or something) then i get a bunch of grey squares. I have installed the latest flash player, cleared my cache, etc. and it still doesnt work.
See if you convert it to Flash 7

Right Click then Press Play
Do it again to start time.
NOTE: Make sure the play choice is not on the wall otherwise after you click it you will lose.
